Coral & Dulux Colour of the Year 2022

Bright Skies™

When selecting our Colour of the Year 2022, we asked a panel of international design experts to help us understand the mood of the moment and share their insights on the colour trends that will shape the way we live. Our colour experts then get to work choosing the best colour to reflect those findings, a shade that will feel just right in our homes for years to come.

Over the past 18 months, our lives have been turned upside down, but we’ve also had time to rethink the way we live and reassess what’s really important. This year, our discussion went digital and we talked about colour trends, including:

✦  The expanding role of the home
✦  How nature is essential to our lives
✦  How the arts can bring us comfort and inspiration
✦  How important it is to embrace new voices and ideas for a brighter future

It’s these discussions that led to our key themes, open skies and a breath of fresh air. And from here, we were able to choose the Dulux Colour of the Year 2022.

Bright SkiesTM is a light, airy and optimistic blue that’s good for the soul. It promises to open up and revitalise your home. Around it, we’ve created four easy-to-use colour palettes, so you can refresh your spaces with different colour combinations. Here are four ideas for you to try in your home:

1. Combine Coral & Dulux Colour of the Year 2022 with Workshop colours to create a vibrant space that works for living, working, relaxing and more

When a living area needs to switch in an instant from home to office to classroom, we need a flexible do-it-all space. Used with Bright Skies™, the multicoloured Workshop palette with its combination of light, uplifting tones, can help you create an inspirational backdrop for any activity.

Light and airy, Coral & Dulux Colour of the Year 2022, Bright Skies™, brings a breath of fresh air to any home. Find out how we choose the Colour of the Year and how to combine it with trend-led shades to brighten up every room…

To help us select our Colour of the Year, we ask a panel of international design experts to help us understand the mood of the moment and to share their insights about what’s influencing the way we live. This year, our discussion went digital before our team of colour experts set to work choosing a shade that reflected those findings – a shade that will feel just right for our homes over the next few years.

Over the past 18 months, our lives have been turned upside down, but we’ve also had time to rethink the way we live and to reassess what’s really important. At our Trend Forecast, we talked about how the role of the home has been transformed; about how essential nature is in our lives; how creativity and the arts have brought us comfort and inspiration during lockdown; and how important it is to embrace new ideas and opinions as we try to shape the world for the better.

These discussions led us to a theme for Coral & Dulux Colour of the Year 2022 – a breath of fresh air – and to the shade itself, which encapsulates what we will need from our spaces in 2022. Bright Skies™ is a light and airy blue; it’s a colour that feels vibrant, optimistic and good for the soul. And it’s a shade that can open up and revitalize our homes. Around it, we’ve created four easy-to-use colour palettes, so you can refresh your living space in any way you choose.
